Babes Who Brunch
As most of you know, I recently bought a home, but I even more recently celebrated a birthday! I thought what better way to celebrate my birthday and showcase my new home than to have my closest girlfriends over for a birthday brunch.
I used Pic Monkey Photo Editor's (https://www.picmonkey.com/) to design and create invitations. I enjoy using Pic Monkey because I find it easy and now they offer templates to help you.
Being surrounded by my closest girlfriends and being able to show them my new home was the greatest gift I could ask for, but this wasn't my first rodeo! I have the most caring friends in the whole world who shower me with love! I knew they wouldn't come to brunch empty handed so, I asked that a donation be made to the SPCA. My heart is so full from my friends generosity. Heidi and I say a big THANK YOU xoxo.
I always do a signature photo wall at my party's. I was busy all week prior to the brunch, so I decided to do a simple photo wall. I bought the Gold Doorway Curtains at Party City and used them as the backdrop instead of hanging them in a doorway. Each curtain was $9.99 and they are reusable. Balloons were also from Party City.
I'd like to share a little advice I learned from hosting a brunch of this size.
- You are not superwoman, and do not have to do everything! Don't be shy to ask your friends to help. If I had my time back I would designate a few friends duties; photographer, tour guide of my new house, bartender, appetizer chef. I had so many offers from my friends to help, and being stubborn I refused. Thank you to those who didn't listen to me and took on duties, you know me well!
- Hosting a brunch is very different from hosting a downtown pre-drink! In the sense that it isn't BYOB and you can't put down one bowl of chips and call it a day. You need to have an assortment of drinks and an assortment of food. I found the best places to get finger foods in large quantity for an affordable price was Costco. Walmart had the best selection and price for juice and pop.
- You might not get to spend time with everyone, and that is okay! I honestly was unsure if my friends had fun at the brunch (silly, I know). I think I was unsure because as discussed above I was busy hosting and missed out on sitting down and spending time with some of my girlfriends. I beat myself up and felt horrible that I didn't get to spend time with everyone. I snapped out of it because the reality was my friends understood I was busy hosting, and way to be vain, maybe they didn't want to talk to me the whole time anyway. :0)
It was so wonderful hosting an event that my friends who are new moms felt comfortable bringing their little ones to. I took a moment during the brunch to soak in the beautiful site of my friends being amazing moms as well as them conversing with soon-to-be moms.
So much love for all my babes who brunch!
